Last day and my flight home to Sweden.

Hello!

This blog post will be the last one from my trip. I have been home in a cold Sweden for a while now. I came home from Calcutta, India, for five days ago. I haven't priority to blog since I came home. Family and friends came infront of my computer! But, now I have find some time to write about it.

So the last day arrived and I spent it on motorcycle. I namely booked a little motorcycle trip, we drove around in Calcutta and saw both everything and nothing. Indian food, animals, markets, people, buildings for example. I can recommend it, make a motorbike-trip and keep your eyes wide open! When the clock turned dinner-time I walked out to find a nice and little bit more luxury restaurant then I was used to eat at. I spent the last night by eating nice food and talk to people at the restaurant. I already miss the way people speak and look at each other. Then I slept well in my hotel bed.

I´m really glad that I made this trip, we are living in a big world and it´s interesting to see how it works. I will never understand every singel person in this tough world, but at least I can try to. Travel and see the world is healthy!

Calcutta (Kolkata).

Hi to all of you and hi Calcutta!

I arrived to Calcutta for some days ago, I think it was on Friday!? It took me nine hours to travel from Bombay to Calcutta, that day ran of pretty fast I would say. I ate and slept on the plane, and  I guess I needed that, it´s a bit hard to get enough sleep here unfortunately. But enough about that boring day!

This is testing me like never before. Poor people everywhere, people that clean themselves with water from manholes, they sleep under the stars everyday, eat nothing and try to earn money on fixing rich peoples shoes. I would say that you don't need to spend money on excursions, just walk out on the street and open your eyes. Tragic but true. And as I wrote, I did exactly that. On Saturday morning I woke up early and had some breakfast, tea and fruits. After that I just walked out and watched the city from zero. I had no expectations of what had ahead of me. It was like day and night at the same time, very strange and full of sadness. Rich people that literally pooped money and people without any money at all. I am totally speechless, can people even live like this? A city full of secrets. I talked to people that asked me if I had some money that I could give them. I bought them some food and asked them to tell me about their lives. We sat there on plastic bags in a city with about five million people and discussed life. People that I´ve never met before. It was cool and a bit strange, because in Sweden we don't even say hello to each other. This day proved me that the humanity isn't as good as it should (could) be. I selected this country because of the poorness. Actually it helped me, it changed me totally.

Street view in Calcutta.

Enough of boredom, over to what I did yesterday. We, me and my new guide decided to go for a walk in Maidan, a big park along Chowringee Road. We walked through the whole park and came out to Victoria Memorial. The friendly guide told us everything when we walked around in that huge building. After that my legs screamed after somewhere to sit and have som lunch. So we found a place to buy some lunch at, and sat on the sidewalk and ate.

Victoria Memorial.

I tried to sleep that night, but it was hard because of all impressions. So much to think about and so little time.

See you soon!

Day after day and Jack Steadman.

Hi and hello!

When the calendar showed Wednesday Linnéa K and I used Skype to have little chit-chat about our two journeys. We discussed the differences between America and India and we were both agreed about it. For example the economy among the population, people in America often have much more money and in India there are more poor people. Why is it like that? We considered that in India they produce more goods, but the economy is  still worse than in America. It´s sad but true we both said. And more...? She told me about her little trip to The Empire State Building, and it sounded absolutely fantastic. Some day I want to go to New York aswell, but it have to wait for a while I think. I told her about my visit to the market in Bombay. It was nice to hear from one of my traveling friends!

Yesterday I decided to take some care of myself, so what could be better than a day at a nice spa here in Bombay! I had massage, took a needed bath in the spa pool and drank some nice fruit drinks. When the clock turned eight, I walked out to a bar called Indian spice. And guess who I met there? Jack Steadman, one of the members in my favourite band, Bombay Bicycle Club. He sang and played some music for me and it was like one of my best moments in life. We also talked about why he was here in Bombay, he was having a private trip to just relax and have fun. Holy moly I´m in heaven! After that I slept well in my big hotel bed.

Look he is kind of super-cute! <3

Soon it´s time to leave Bombay for Calcutta.

See you!

Hi from Bombay!

Hello again!

It´s been a while since I wrote here on my blog, things have happened! But now, it´s time to tell you some fun information about my days here in Bombay.

The day before yesterday I went on, hmm... What should I call it, maybe some kind of crazy sightseeing in Bombay. Early in the morning in jumped on a bus, that drove me to St Thomas’ Cathedra. My travel guide Adi took us on an absolutely marvelous tour around the building. He told us everything about it an of course the history of why it´s been built. Adi was an expert and that made it fantastic! After that we hade some typical Indian lunch, namely some rice, flat bread, Dal, Curries, Yogurt, and pickles. If I should tell you something about everything I eat here in India, I would probably need to write a book haha. So, if there is anything you wonder about, google it or ask me! After lunch Adi took us to the famous market Colaba, a well attended market among tourists. I bought some Indian fabric and tea. I think we saw at bit strange, walking around with cameras and big sunhats, but we hade very fun.

That was a day full of both nice and scary impressions. I saw so much poor people and that made me grateful for what Iv´e got in life. Wish I could help them all!

I will tell you some more stuff tomorrow, see you!

Hello India and Bombay!

Yaay, I´m finally in Bombay!

Oh my, that trip was a tough one. Eight hours on a hot plane and after that a bus trip that I don´t want to experience again. But now I´m here and it will be both exciting and a bit of mixed emotions. So, Bombay is my first stop. I will probably stay here for three days in a hotel called Sea Lord, located near the water, as the name might told you.

The day started with searching for some store or market near the hotel, because the breakfast wasn't included unfortunately. And I have to say I love it, think of a huge market where they sell like thousands of things, for example fruits, vegetables and tea. It was like heaven, and I bought and ate a lot of new things. I also talked to a woman called Nadia, she had her own market place. She told me everything about the Indian food and gave me some tips and tricks of what I should try to eat and not. I´ll keep this woman in my mind forever she was so friendly and I really liked her.

I haven't just been eating all day long. For example I walked out in Bombay, so I could learn to know the city a bit more. It was people everywhere and all of them wanted to talk with me and sell souvenirs they have produced. Just because they saw that I´m from another country. People here is so much more open-minded and they want to learn people and just be kind to everyone. That´s a difference between Sweden and India that is pretty interesting. I hope to learn some more about the people here and bring their openness to Sweden.

Tomorrow I´ll have to deal with Bombay in a bigger way!

See you soon // Linn

It´s time!

Hello and welcome to my blog!

I´ve just finished school and I think that this is my chance to explore the world and se what it can give me. The idea of not knowing what you have to expect of tomorrow is very exiting.

I will now for several days make an extraordinary trip to India. My plan is to write here on my blog what I have done, and it would be fun if you want to read it.

Now it´s time for me to sleep so I can start my journey tomorrow morning. I´ve been packing and fixing for days now, and it´s kind of nervous I have to say. I actually don't know so much about India, but I hope this trip could give me some new perspective.
